Artist statement
Growing up it was difficult to find Asian American role models. Because of the lack of diversity, from a young age I saw myself constantly lacking value. I was ashamed of my culture and spent a long time grappling with who I am as a human. After finding a loving-mindfulness practice that focuses on cultivating compassion. I learned compassion is not a passive emotion, and can be actively fostered. It helped me accept and love my own unique identity.
